Getting Reviews on Glassdoor, LinkedIn and Indeed and How to Handle Negative Reviews

Employer Reviews on Glassdoor Indeed

A key point in your recruitment marketing strategy should be to include your company reviews from sites like Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn on your career website and employment newsletter. Sharing reviews with potential candidates provides a window into your company culture and can generate interest from applicants.

How to Get Reviews

If you’re beginning with a blank slate begin by encouraging current employees to provide reviews and feedback. Glassdoor and Indeed also allows users to provide additional pertinent details such as salary, CEO reviews. I would caution against using incentives to encourage people to provide reviews. It should be completely voluntary in order to remain authentic, and useful. Recommend sharing positive reviews with current employees to help facilitate participation.

Indeed.com provides the following six tips for responding to employer reviews:

1. If you decide to respond to a review, do so in a timely manner.
2. Keep things positive. Thank the reviewer for sharing their experience.
3. Always be professional. Your responses are visible to everyone.
4. Don’t try to respond to combative reviewers.
5. Try and take the issue offline when possible.
6. Ask employees to rate reviews as helpful/not helpful. Reviews rated “more helpful” are highlighted for job seekers.

How to Respond to Negative Reviews On Glassdoor, and Indeed

If the world were a perfect place, every employee would be happy, every manager would be responsive and a phenomenal communicator. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as perfect. That’s okay. Every now and then you may receive a less-than-stellar review from a current or former employee on Glassdoor or Indeed. The good news is, there’s no need to panic, both sites will give you the chance to respond to any reviews that you would like to.

In this situation, your best option is to respond quickly, and politely. Acknowledge any perceived issues, and thank the reviewer for their “honest feedback,” and note that ABC Company treats all feedback seriously, and you will take steps to correct or improve reported situation.

Dealing With The Really Bad Negative Reviews

If a review on Indeed or Glassdoor is offensive, libelous, or so completely inaccurate that it makes no sense to respond offline or online, you can request that it gets deleted.
